Itinerary
Day 1 - Vipava Valley
You will drive to Vipava valley and walk around the town of Vipava and its beautiful center. The first day already includes two wine tastings at local wineries before you spend the night in Vipava.

Day 2 - Drive to Goriška Brda
After breakfast, you will visit Sabotin, a scenic viewpoint overlooking Nova Gorica. Before the first wine tasting, you will stop at Gonjače and you will be free to explore the Šmartno settlement before we head for the second tasting which includes dinner.

Day 3 - Exploring Goriška Brda
Grapevines are not the only thing growing in these regions, so you will begin your day with olive oil tasting. After that, you will have some free time to explore the surroundings before a wine tasting at a boutique winery and dinner (coupled with wine, of course).

Day 4 - Drive to Slovenian Istria
After a brief drive, you will visit Sečovlje and its salt pans. The rest of the day will include a lunch at one of the seaside towns (Piran or Koper) and a wine tasting on the Slovenian coast. This is also where you will spend your last night.

Day 5 - Istria and return to Ljubljana
Starting the day with breakfast, you can then opt for a visit to the Fonda Fish Farm or just enjoy the remainder of the day at the seaside during your free time before we return to Ljubljana.

Traveling across Slovenia’s scenic wine-growing regions of the Vipava valley and Goriška Brda, you will feast your eyes on the rolling green hills and meadows bathing in the sun — perfect conditions for vineyards.

Our tour was with Tina who collected us from our hotel by car and drove us to two excellent family wineries that have been running for generations. Each was very different but equally warm in their welcome as they shared platters of produce (some of the best tomatoes, cheese and prosciutto) and let us taste the wines while explaining their ethos and process. A couple of the grape varieties are only found in Slovenia and the quality of the wines are outstanding. With prices low, we bought a few bottles to drink at our hotel as well as take home. A fabulously relaxed way to try local wines and enjoy the countryside. I highly recommend this for any wine lovers.

A fantastic way to experience Slovenian wines in Vipava Valley! Tina, our guide, is a sommelier and an expert in local vineyards and varietals. She makes wine approachable for all levels of wine lovers, and she does all the driving so you can taste! Being welcomed at small, family wineries that have been producing wine for generations was a highlight of the day, especially when you realize 95% of Slovenian wines don't leave the country. As you sample wine, you'll also have charcuterie produced in the area. It was an amazing experience!

We went on a tour with some friends and some Slovenians as well. It was interesting that the Slovenians had never been to that particular place....and they didn't regret it!
The wines were surprisingly good (to be honest, I had never had a Slovenian wine...) and the food served was awesome!!!
All in all the trip was definitely worth it and I would recommend any wine lover to go for it.

Our tour guide was not only a great conversationalist but was also very knowledgeable about the area and Slovenia history. The winery hosts were exceptional - and the wines were fantastic. We had an amazing private wine tour with Tina! Tina was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and country, and she did a great job planning out the day. We got to visit 2 wineries with a small lunch in between. The wine tastings were incredible - we got taste many wines, learn the history and culture of Slovenian wine, and eat some awesome local charcuterie all in a private tasting with the wine maker. I cannot rate this tour high enough!

Boris was a verry good guide with a wide knowledge of Slovenian wines. We were Lucky to visit the vineyards during harvesting period in the beginning of september. We even got to try fresh grape juice straight from the press. We had a large variety of wines, including the popular Slovenian orange wines. Both wine families greeted us with locally produced snacks and home grown vegetables. This was a great experience, highly recommended.

My nana was ever since I can remember a wine fan and we went on a little trip together to Slovenia, so of course I had to scout out some wine experiences. Read some nice reviews and said, why not? It's not even important that I enjoyed it thoroughly, but my nana was so beyond happy and just couldn't get enough of chatting with the winemakers and walking all around the vineyards and trying the wines. If you want to experience a day out in the Slovenian country side sampling wines and talking to the winemakers, this is for you! We had a blast sitting on a porch drinking amazing wines and sampling local food. Having been to other wine tastings around the world, this was so much more personal and relaxed.
